Uganda
In the Rwenzori mountains of Uganda—the fabled Mountains of the Moon—over 500 farming families cultivate coffee at elevations between 1,500 and 2,000 meters. This is Uganda—coffee grown where earth meets sky, processed with precision and care by the Busongora North Coffee Farmers' Cooperative.
The farmers here work with SL28 and SL14 varietals, legacy cultivars developed for quality over quantity. Each farmer is registered with a unique identifier, creating traceability from cup to mountainside. The fully washed process—water flowing over beans at centralized wash stations in Kajole, Kithoma, and Kaswa—reveals what careful cultivation has created. What emerges is balanced alchemy: light body that doesn't lack substance, mild acidity that brightens without sharpness, and notes of floral complexity, chocolate depth, and dark fruit richness dancing together.
This is community transformation made manifest, hundreds of families working in concert to create something greater than any could achieve alone. Whether greeting morning or sustaining afternoon, Uganda offers understated excellence—coffee that rewards attention without demanding it.
